This is the first exhibition in Croatia to be devoted entirely to the daguerreotype, the oldest photographic process to produce a unique photographic image capable of being preserved.

Ten daguerreotypes that have been preserved in the Dubrovnik region are presented, two of them from the holdings of the Cultural History Museum of Dubrovnik Museums.  Also presented to the public for the first time is the very valuable Booklet of the business notations of Josip Betondić Jakovljev from 1853 to 1864, in which the author on several pages compares the characteristics of some Voigtländer lenses, the booklet being kept in the State Archives in Dubrovnik.

Exhibition devised by: Marina Filipović
Exhibition design: Ivona Michl

The exhibition catalogue is available in the Dubrovnik Museums shop.
