The exhibition was produced by Dubrovnik Museums, the Museum of Contemporary History, to mark the occasion of the Day of Dubrovnik Defenders.
The aim of the exhibition was to familiarise more deeply the general and the specialised public with the content of all the museum collections, which have been importantly enriched by the field researches carried out and very much so by the many donations from defenders and citizens.
Exceptionally important for supplementing the museum holdings was a campaign to collect material carried out in association with the ZNG Dubrovnik 1991 Association, as part of the preparations for the production of the now permanent exhibition “Dubrovnik in the Homeland War 1991-1995”. For the successful organisation of this exhibition, Varina Jurica Turk was awarded a special prize from the Croatian Museum Association for 2008.
Along with a reader-friendly report on the state of the collections, previously unknown parts of the material from individual donations were presented, the study and processing of which enabled the establishment of new historical facts and the acquisition of scientifically grounded understanding of the events from our most recent history.
