Most of this collection, which has two hundred and sixty nine items, was assembled by donations, which belong to the 19th and 20th centuries. Also important to mention is that the collection contains copies of votive pictures from the 18th century.
The collection comprehends portraits of Dubrovnik sailors and ship owners, representations of ships (brigs, brigantines, brig-schooners, and barques characteristic of the 19th century, as well as steam ships, mainly from the 20th century).
There are valuable representations of the ships of the Pelješac Shipping Company (1865-1891) and the Dubrovnik Shipping Company (1869-1888).
The permanent display shows pictures of ships by Bazilije Ivanković, the painter of maritime subjects John Henry Mohrmann, the paintings of Johann Seits and other works.
