Collection of traditional attire from Rijeka Dubrovačka and Župa Dubrovačka

Collection manager:
Barbara Margaretić, senior curator
e-mail:  barbara.margaretic@dumus.hr

This collection keeps material from the area of the Dubrovnik possession once known as Astarea, the closest rural area to the city. On the whole it contains textiles from the end of the 19th and the early 20th century.

Within it there is also a small but very valuable collection of jewellery that the women of this area used to ornament their traditional clothing. The traditional jewellery is mainly the work of local craftsmen, the goldsmiths of Dubrovnik.

The most valuable part of the collection consists of two men’s and two women’s sets of festive traditional attire, and they are on show in the permanent display.
