The collection comprises picture postcards with motifs of traditional garments, depictions of traditional architecture and everyday life, as well as of exhibition set-ups from other museums.
The photographs of Tošo Dabac, Zvonimir Ljekaković, Mladen Grčević and many anonymous authors portray the everyday life of the Dubrovnik region – of Konavle, Dubrovačko primorje, Župa dubrovačka and the island of Mljet, and indeed of the whole of the former Yugoslavia during the 20th century.
As well as portraits, family photographs and depictions of people earning their living during the year and photographs of rural architecture, the collection also contains documents that are crucial for the museum.
Among them the manuscript bequest of Jelka Miš to the ethnographic department of the national museum, as it then was, certainly deserves attention.
Some of the photographs of Tošo Dabac and Zvonimir Ljevaković are on show in the permanent display.
