The exhibition is produced in association with the Museum of Brod Posavlje
The exhibition presents 16 woollen blankets and five wooden chests from the holdings of the ethnographic department of the Museum of Brod Posavlje.
These Krpene ponjave, as they are called, come only from the environs of Slavonski Brod and are a unique phenomenon in the traditional folk art of Croatia. This fascinating visual creation is a particular form of women’s writing with messages of an amorous and erotic character. Also worked on the blankets are motifs that guard against spells and bring good fortune.
